MEDIA APPEARANCE: Quoted on BGR.com and Y! Entertainment for "The Road"

It took receiving a pair of Google Alerts on my name and website to see that quotes of mine about 2009’s The Road, starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron, were recently cited on the media site BGR. The piece by Alan Bradley promoted the film’s standing as being underseen, which it is. The quote is from my review on Every Movie Has a Lesson that was logged on Rotten Tomatoes.

As I have grown in press credentials and professional affiliations nationally, I have found myself landing in circles with other film critics of various levels. Recently, I was included in a poll for voting critics for Jordan Ruimy of World of Reel, a fellow Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic. His survey was to collect picks for the best movies of 2026 so far from over 100 critics and other industry folk. I was honored to chime in with my top five selections.

In an annual series, Every Movie Has a Lesson is going to look back twenty years to revisit, relearn, and reexamine a year of cinema history to share favorites, lists, and experiences from the films of that year. When measuring back as far as twenty years or more, I feel like “favorites” that have stood the test of time have aged to become some level of “best.” I feel like a bunch of those populate my reflective look back at the best of 2005.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Contributor to the IFSCA List of the 100 Best Films of the 21st Century (So Far)

One of the many critcs groups I have become a member of over the years is the International Film Society Critics, an international group numbering over 100 film critics. Recently, they embarked on a project to answer this past summer’s very viral and publicly voted “100 Best Films of the 21st Century ” from The New York Times with a curated “so far” list of their own, ranked and selected by IFSCA members.
