MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast and YouTube talking "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker"

The dead speak! On an early morning in advance of its much ballyhooed release, Ian Simmons of Kicking the Seat assembled the clones of myself, David Fowlie of Keeping It Reel, Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man’s Movie Reviews, and Mike Crowley of You’ll Probably Agree to put all of our Midichlorians on the table to immediately react to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. There’s so much forceful spirit on this dais, you would think it’s the real versions of all of us. Enjoy this podcast episode!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: "Marriage Story" Spoiler Lounge content for "CinemaJaw" podcast #450

Here’s some newly-released follow-up bonus content my recent guest appearance on the CinemaJaw podcast, hosted by fellow Chicago Indie Critic members Matt Kubinski and Ryan Jagiello. When we recorded our reviews of Marriage Story a month before its Netflix debut, we entered spoiler territory for a segment to save for later. Well, later is now with Marriage Story going strong in its award season. In this new episode of CinemaJaw recorded at the glam headquarters of Cards Against Humanity, come for the Jumanji and Star Wars talk and stay for the Marriage Story “Spoiler Lounge!”

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Feelin' Film" podcast for "The Peanut Butter Falcon"

Twice in a month! On the heels of their monumental three-part 200th episode special (covering the true Indiana Jones trilogy), I returned to the Feelin' Film Podcast to close out the 100s with an underrated and underseen gem that all three of us loved. For Episode #199, Patrick Hicks, Aaron White, and me discussed the high values and movie merits of The Peanut Butter Falcon starring Zack Gottshagen, Shia LeBeouf, and Dakota Johnson. Earning five-stars from all three of us, this road movie stands as one of our favorites from 2019 that we hopes gains in appreciation and acclaim with time.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "CinemaJaw" podcast #447

This past week, I was pleased as punch to be a guest on the CinemaJaw podcast, hosted by fellow Chicago Indie Critic members Matt Kubinski and Ryan Jagiello. On Episode #447, all three of us just got out of Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and, boy, did we have feelings. As per tradition, the Top 5 segment was for each of us to list our best break-up, separation, and divorce movies. An extended trivia segment followed later centered on Tom Hanks. Enjoy their excellent show!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Feelin' Film" podcast for "Memphis Belle"

I had the honor and pleasure this past week to join the war-movie-loving hosts on the Feelin' Film Podcast talking about a true underseeen throwback geme: 1990’s Memphis Belle directed by 90s hitmaker Michael Caton-Jones. This podcast plane ride was celebrating Veteran’s Day week in conjunction with the new Midway movie arriving in theaters this week. Memphis Belle was a worn-out VHS childhood favorite of my brother and me. Patrick had that lifelong affinity as well and Aaron, the former Navy man, had nothing but respect

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" YouTube channel talking "Jojo Rabbit"

When you see a fellow film critic love a movie you loved too, it’s like an invisible fist-bump or high-five. When I heard friend-of-the-page Ian Simmons of the Kicking the Seat podcast adore Jojo Rabbit, I could not help but nag him to talk about it. He had already covered the film with critic Pat McDonald of Hollywood Chicago for his podcast, but wanted to bring me in for a video to balance the takes out after Pat was a little lukewarm on it compared to Ian and I. Enjoy Ian and I singing spoiler-free praise for Jojo Rabbit on his YouTube channel.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast talking "Joker"

The movie that had everyone talking before its release had four film critics filled with words after its advance press screening. The comic council convened to be dared to love or hate Joker. As always, Ian Simmons leads the Kicking the Seat podcast as myself, David Fowlie of Keeping It Reel and Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man’s Movie Reviews hop into this clown car. The surprise and heat in voices was palpable coming out of that screening. Enjoy this podcast episode!

Huge kudos go out to Ian Simmons of the Kicking the Seat podcast for diving into the realm of YouTube! MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "You'll Probably Agree" podcast talking "The Lion King" and Disney's future

Mike Crowley of the steaming-ahead “You’ll Probably Agree” brand welcomed yours truly back on the podcast microphone again, this time to talk about The Lion King. Neither one of our childhoods were married to the 1994 original, but we recognize its greatness while questioning and critiquing the new Jon Favreau visual achievement. Mike and I gaze ahead into the Disney crystal ball and wonder where they are heading with these reimaginings that border on creative bankruptcy. Fire up the audio! MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast talking "Spider-Man: Far From Home"

Ian Simmons of the Kicking the Seat podcast leads what has come to be lovingly called “Earth’s Mightiest Critics” to explore another big and loud comic book movie. Matching the fireworks of the holiday, Spider-Man: Far From Home was the entertainment coming off the grill to the picnic table for our talk. As always, Ian, David Fowlie of Keeping It Reel and Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man’s Movie Reviews, and myself bounce the ideas. Us unqualified old men are joined by a special guest from the target demographic, David’s teenage daughter Grace. This was a very fun and long show for all of us! MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "You'll Probably Agree" podcast talking "Toy Story 4" and 1989's "Batman"

Let me be either the first or the next person to tell you how cool it is to talk to Mike Crowley about movies. Mike has recently revamped his “You’ll Probably Agree” brand and platform to include written and podcast content to go with his videos. This past week, Mike wanted to share a podcast discussion on Toy Story 4, especially with our differing takes between his positive one and my internet-reviled “rotten” tag. We also went from one box of toys to another to reminisce about the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton’s classic Batman. This was a damn good time with a damn good dude!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast talking "Toy Story 4"

It with Ian Simmons of the Kicking the Seat podcast where I no longer feel like an island after watching and review Toy Story 4. He and I sat next to each other at the screening and both shared a great deal of chagrin afterwards. We put that together for his latest podcast episode against the positive interventions of David Fowlie of Keeping It Reel and Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man’s Movie Reviews. In addition to talking out the highs and lows of the movie, I was invited to share my experience this past week of being one of the extremely few “Rotten” Rotten Tomatoes reviews for Toy Story 4. Great conversations here for my 20th appearance on Ian’s fine sh Give it a listen!
