I met William Eguizabal of FilmSnobReviews though the social media spaces of the Feelin’ Film Podcast and we hit it off with or similar clashing styles of expertise mixed with saltiness when necessary. William recently invited me as a guest for his “Snob Chat” podcast with his talented co-host Chai Simone. The challenge was to present and defend two sub-40% Rotten Tomatoes movies that we would rank higher and hold as favorites. Just in time for Valentine’s Day (and showing my 40+ age), I submitted two very different romances, Booty Call and Simply Irresistible down in the ugly teen percentages.
Read MoreThis time on the Darkseid of the Moon podcast, part of MDK Productions, Vinnie Greene and his regular co-host Noel John Tuohy invited me back for a two-part recording session. The second piece was a full episode covering Captain America: The First Avenger. That one is my #1 favorite of the MCU and I was damn glad to echo its praises in a roundtable. Word is I’ll be back for two more Captain America movies. Can’t wait! Follow Vinnie and Noel on Twitter and Facebook!
Read MoreThis time on the Darkseid of the Moon podcast, part of MDK Productions, Vinnie Greene and his regular co-host Noel John Tuohy invited me back for a two-part recording session. The first piece was their “Talking Points” segment on the rumored cancellation of the DC Extended Universe. Our mutual loves, hates, worries, and prognostications comes out in a great chat. Read MoreFor their monumental 50th episode, the Cinephile Hissy Fit embarks on high adventure. Grown-up film critics, belittling dads, and swashbuckling school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan bring the dueling sensibilities on superstar young actor Tom Holland to the microphone to talk about the new blockbuster Uncharted. The Marvel shill Will finds himself in a different position of defense while it’s Don that finds some redeeming qualities from the guy he thinks doesn’t have adult charm. “Uncharted” waters indeed!
Read MoreI was recently approached to offer a list of iconic dog roles from movies by the PR company for the Spot Pet Insurance website. I love those mental exercises of ranking and celebrating, so I barked… err… jumped at the chance. While I am currently pet-less myself at home, I’ve had my cherished animal buddies in the past. I feel I put together a solid little list to lead their article. Check out my cited Top 5 and the full article linked below.
Read MoreFor their 49th episode, the Cinephile Hissy Fit was proud to host a special film event at the Majestic Tempe 7 in Tempe, Arizona this past week. Our own host Will Johnson joined CHF guest Ben Cahlamer for special in-theatre presentation of Wong Kar-Wai's masterful and sumptuous 2000 romance In the Mood for Love. The audio from their post-film discussion has been uploaded here for you as a new podcast episode.
Read MoreFor their 48th episode, 25YL film critics, non-musical dads, and pencil-pushing school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan invited Chicago-based freelance writer and film critic Annie Banks of Chuck Load of Comics and MovieWeb for the first of a pair of recordings. Staying on the glitzy course towards the Academy Awards, Annie came to sing the praises of Andrew Garfield's hit Netflix vehicle tick, tick... BOOM! The three go back and forth to hit the high notes and the low notes of this musical from from director Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Read MoreFor their 47th episode, 25YL film critics, appreciative dads, and eager school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan welcomed a very special guest to the podcast. Actress, filmmaker, and comedienne Lilan Bowden, known by many for Andi Mack, joined the gentlemen to promote her upcoming work in the improvised Netflix whodunnit show Murderville which debuts February 3rd. Lilan also brought the movie comfort food selection of Disney's animated Robin Hood to the microphones for a three-way debate. Who knew animated foxes were so hot?
Read MoreIf cannot tell already after nearly 50 episodes of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast that I co-host, Will Johnson is the big personality and the star of the show. Sure, I may cuss more and have a few more credentials and feathers in my film critic hat, but Will is the beating heart of our show. He was highlighted to show that very power this week with an interview in the Phoenix New Times written by Ashley Naftule.
Read MoreUnlike my small comic book roots that make me borderline qualified to talk among the “Earth’s Mightiest Critics” crew assembled by Ian Simmons of Kicking the Seat, I am tremendously behind when it comes to the extended universe of Star Wars. I’ve seen the movies like everyone else, but I was late to the party for The Mandalorian and have never seen any of the Clone Wars animated offerings. Surprises from those sources have been making live-action waves in The Book of Boba Fett on Disney+, and I asked to bring my uninformed noob energy.
Read MoreFor their 46th episode, 25YL film critics, rapid-fire dads, and black-and-white school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan meet up this week to discuss Aaron Sorkin's newest directorial effort "Being the Ricardos." The fellas debate what worked and what didn't with the Sorkin brand of dialogue and the movie's top notch cast. They also handicap the films Oscar chances as we inch closer to the 94th Academy Awards. Hissy Fitters, we're home! This show is what's for dinner.
Read MoreThis week, I could not have been more stoked to see the return of movie drafts from the Feelin’ Film Podcast! This one presented the massive challenge of selecting a collection of the best or most appealing sports movies in seven different categories. The four competitors were Feelin’ Film hosts Aaron White and Patrick Hicks, Cinematic Underdogs Podcast co-host Paul Keelan, and myself. As a veteran of two previous Feelin’ Film drafts, I came to win, and I think I crushed it. Listen for our banter and picks and vote for the winner in the Feelin’ Film Facebook Group and Twitter.
