It was season finale time this week for “Wednesday Knight Live” hosted by Ian Simmons on his Kicking the Seat YouTube Channel. Even with a reasonably action-packed conclusion, Moon Knight couldn’t end soon enough for “Earth’s Mightiest Critics.” This show has almost broken poor Ian of the MCU. I’m a little late in posting last week’s “Wednesday Knight Live” hosted by Ian Simmons on his Kicking the Seat YouTube Channel. After the finale this week, I needed to catch up. This show for the the fifth and penultimate episode became a sausage fest of just the men. Ian, myself, “King of Geeks” personality Elliott Serrano, Mark Krawczyk of Special Mark Productions shrugged our way through the mythology and antics of Marvel’s Moon Knight. Like always, we wonder how they will wrap everything else with only one to go. Enjoy the show!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Participant in "World of Reel" Critics Poll for Best Films of the 1970s

As I have grown in press credentials and professional affiliations nationally, I have found myself landing in circles with other film critics of various levels. Recently, I was included in my fourth call for voting critics for Jordan Ruimy of World of Reel. He is a fellow Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic who also has contributed to The Young Folks, The Playlist, We Got This Covered, and The Film Stage. His poll was to collect the Top Films of the 1970s from over 150 critics and other industry folk. I was honored to chime in with my 15 unranked selections to be included with some very high professional company.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on "Brevity Box" Podcast Episode #47 on the Ruminations Radio Network

In being part of the Ruminations Radio Network with my Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, I’ve been able to meet and digitally commiserate with fellow creative people. As a newbie to the podcast medium, all of them have impressed me with their work ethic in putting spoken words to their passions. Recently, I was invited to be episode guest on the Brevity Box podcast hosted by, as I know them, “Brando” and “CCC.” They had me on to tell my journey as a film critic and what makes me tick as a man juggling all the work that makes me a critic, teacher, husband, and father.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on "Invasion of the Pody Snatchers" for "The Last Man on Earth"

Recently, I was welcomed back to Vinnie Green’s MDK Productions, this time as a guest on his Invasion of the Pody Snatchers podcast channel. That arm of MDK specializes in horror films and the theme was zombie movies. Vinnie and co-host Noel John Tuohy took my request of going very old school with 1964’s The Last Man on Earth, pre-dating George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead by four years. MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Cinematic Underdogs" podcast talking "American Underdog"

This past month, I was invited back as a guest to the Cinematic Underdogs podcast hosted by Paul Keelan and Jordan Puga. This was my third spin on their show which specializes in covering sports movies. I previously dug in with them last year to talk about Slap Shot and Moneyball. We’ve been enjoying each others’ company on social media and through connected fellow creators ever since. This time, we have a movie very fitting of the podcast’s name. The three of us discussed American Underdog, the under-seen and under-loved Kurt Warner biopic from this past Christmas.

For all those folks who think popular and genre films don't get real awards love, I am happy to report that, for the second year, the Critics Choice Association presents their Super Awards for those very beloved spectacles of entertainment and their adoring audiences. I am even happier to report that I am on the voting committee that helped select and celebrate these winners. How did we do?

After what felt like forever since Spider-Man: No Way Home, I returned to my chair among “Earth’s Mightiest Critics” on the Kicking the Seat YouTube channel hosted, as always, by Ian Simmons. This show was the big one we were all waiting for, especially the “DC Shill” Mark Krawczyk of Special Mark Productions. After swallowing plate after plate of Marvel content, we finally got some WB/DC dessert. I Ian, Mark, and also David Fowlie of Keeping it Reel and Annie Banks of Chuck Load of Comics for a shared conversation on all of the tone, character, and darkness there was to enjoy in Matt Reeves’s bold new interpretation of the Caped Crusader.
