MEDIA APPEARANCE: Included in Hollywood Critics Association "Gradebook" for "Turning Red"

Upon being accepted into the Hollywood Critics Association, their fine site-runners and admins assemble “Gradebooks” collecting early reviews and grades from their critics on popular releases. When I can get more work completed and a review submitted early enough, my take and connected quotes have the chance to make these shout-out posts. My newest was being included for Pixar’s Turning Red. Check out your boy!

PODCAST: Episode 54 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

For our 54th episode, 25YL film critics, cerebrally-seductive dads, and mentally-capable school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan embark on another "Deep Cut" discussion on the legacy of another celebrated performer. Suggested by Will, the hosts shared their love/hate takes and viewing recommendations for Sigourney Weaver, a pillar of strong female characterization. They work around the easy and obvious to peer further down the career resume.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the Kicking the Seat's YouTube roundtable for "The Batman"

After what felt like forever since Spider-Man: No Way Home, I returned to my chair among “Earth’s Mightiest Critics” on the Kicking the Seat YouTube channel hosted, as always, by Ian Simmons. This show was the big one we were all waiting for, especially the “DC Shill” Mark Krawczyk of Special Mark Productions. After swallowing plate after plate of Marvel content, we finally got some WB/DC dessert. I Ian, Mark, and also David Fowlie of Keeping it Reel and Annie Banks of Chuck Load of Comics for a shared conversation on all of the tone, character, and darkness there was to enjoy in Matt Reeves’s bold new interpretation of the Caped Crusader.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Included in Banana Meter's "First Reactions" for "The Batman"

The newly-formed Rotten Tomatoes alternative Banana Meter has been gathering talented critics and hoping to make a social media splash. They’ve been timely and spirited with highlighting their members and getting their reviews out there. One of these frequent features is a collection of “First Reactions” for big new releases. If I can get my work done early enough, I have the chance of my work and grade being selected for one of those hot-off-the-press features. It’s an honor to join friends and peers for such an inclusion. Here’s my highlight from The Batman. Find and follow the Banana Meter on Twitter. Check out your boy!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Included in Rotten Tomatoes "First Reviews" for "The Batman"

Every now and then for the big new releases, Rotten Tomatoes will collect the tip-of-the-spear “first reviews” and highlight them in an editorial news column piece. If I can get my work in fast enough and it gets noticed, I have the chance of being selected and included in these round-up features. Recently, I was cited twice for The Batman. For a guy like me, it’s the closest I’ll get to a pull quote anytime soon. It’s an honor to see my work recognized and mentioned next to some of my peers and the best critics in the business.

When I can get more work completed and review submitted early enough, my take and connected quotes have the chance to make these shout-out posts. For their 53rd episode, armored film critics, cryogenically-sealed dads, and fix-it-all teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan have invited Seattle film critic and Feelin' Film podcast host Aaron White for a knockdown/drag-out shouting match over the 2016 Chris Pratt-Jennifer Lawrence star vehicle Passengers. PODCAST: Episode 51 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

Horns up! It’s the 51st episode of Cinephile Hissy Fit and today is a weird one. Replacing Don Shanahan today is Art House Film Wire film critic, music enthusiast, and single cat dad (c’mon ladies) Jeff Mitchell who joins professor of metal Will Johnson to discuss the horror-rock comedy extravaganza that is Studio 666 (presented by the Foo Fighters). What exactly is going on with this movie? Is it KISS and the Phantom of the Park or this generation’s A Hard Day’s Night but with zombie raccoons?

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest for "Feelin' Film" FF+ Alternate Oscars 2016 Discussion

This week, I was invited for a very different selection show with the Feelin’ Film Podcast compared to our legendary movie drafts. Fellow awards-voting critic member Aaron White floated me the idea to experiment with legacy and memory to re-vote on previous Oscars, starting with the films of 2016 from five years ago. To be a tiebreaker, we are joined by Tomatometer-approved critic Kevin Brackett of the Reel Spoilers Podcast to fight for the likes of Moonlight, La La Land, Fences, Arrival, Hell or High Water, Jackie, A Monster Calls, Your Name. and more.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on February "Snob Chat" podcast hosted by William Eguizabal and Chai Simone

I met William Eguizabal of FilmSnobReviews though the social media spaces of the Feelin’ Film Podcast and we hit it off with or similar clashing styles of expertise mixed with saltiness when necessary. William recently invited me as a guest for his “Snob Chat” podcast with his talented co-host Chai Simone. The challenge was to present and defend two sub-40% Rotten Tomatoes movies that we would rank higher and hold as favorites. Just in time for Valentine’s Day (and showing my 40+ age), I submitted two very different romances, Booty Call and Simply Irresistible down in the ugly teen percentages.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on "Darkseid of the Moon" podcast talking on "Captain America: The First Avenger"

This time on the Darkseid of the Moon podcast, part of MDK Productions, Vinnie Greene and his regular co-host Noel John Tuohy invited me back for a two-part recording session. The second piece was a full episode covering Captain America: The First Avenger. That one is my #1 favorite of the MCU and I was damn glad to echo its praises in a roundtable. Word is I’ll be back for two more Captain America movies. Can’t wait! Follow Vinnie and Noel on Twitter and Facebook!
