The Gold Rush (1925)
Of the entire series of films about a little tramp performed by Charlie Chaplin, this one is perhaps the funniest. If the rest of the paintings are much more permeated with sadness, then here you just want to laugh. So, the tramp goes to Alaska in search of gold, but he and his friend are caught by a storm in a small house in which a fugitive criminal is hiding ... The legendary scenes with dancing buns or cooking dinner from a shoe are familiar to all movie lovers from childhood.
La loi c'est la loi (1958)
A classic film starring Fernandel as a French customs officer and Italian comedian Toto as the quirky smuggler he chases. The plot unfolds in a small town, right in the middle of which runs the Franco-Italian border. For many years, the hero of Fernandel unsuccessfully tries to catch the smuggler, who is also his best friend. Moreover, he is even married to the first wife of a customs officer. But then one day it turns out that the main character was born in the Italian part of the town, or rather, in the kitchen of the house, which the border divides exactly in half.
Some Like It Hot (1959)
This is not to say that Billy Wilder's famous comedy today makes you laugh until colic, but its light and unobtrusive humor is truly timeless. The story of two session jazz musicians (they were played by Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon), who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and witness a showdown between mafia clans, fell in love with viewers around the world. Their flight from the city as part of a female orchestra, where Marilyn Monroe is the soloist, can be reviewed endlessly.
Le tatoue (1968)
The giants of French cinema Jean Gabin and Louis de Funes met more than once on the set, but this duet of them can be safely considered the most successful. De Funes played a crafty art dealer who accidentally saw a tattoo on the back of the hero Gabin, clearly made by the hand of the great Modigliani. And I decided at all costs to get this unique masterpiece. To the surprise of the gallery owner, from a modest military pensioner from the Parisian suburbs, the character of Jean Gabin turns into a descendant of an old family, who has completely different views on life than a resourceful businessman.
La moutarde me monte au nez (1974)
In this film by Claude Zidi, the favorite of the Soviet public, Pierre Richard, plays a school mathematics teacher, and part-time son of the mayor of the city, for whom he has to write speeches. But one day, his unlucky students swapped teacher folders with documents, which also contained an article written for a fashion magazine about a famous actress, whose role was played by Jay Birkin. Of course, there is a terrible confusion, as a result of which the main character is on the set of the next film of the star, and then in her bed.
Le Père Noël est une ordure (1982)
One of France's favorite Christmas films is also an example of a wild black comedy. Largely thanks to this film by Jean-Marie Poiret, such actors as Christian Clavier, Thierry Lermitte, Josiane Balasco came to the rank of stars. An incredible New Year's story begins with the everyday life of the SOS Friendship Society, whose members help lonely people on Christmas Eve to cheer them up. However, the plot itself is secondary here, the main thing is the grotesque characters who have come together and are trying their best to live the New Year so that the viewer is not painfully sad.
La soupe aux choux (1981)
The character of Louis de Funes from this film, which any adult resident of France knows almost by heart, has become in many ways a household name for residents of different regions. This comedy tells the story of two pensioners living on a crumbling farm, who spend all their days drinking aperitif and wine, while flatly refusing to follow the inexorable demands of progress. The second cheerful pensioner was played by Jean Carme. And after another party, accompanied by an accordion, the farm was visited by an alien performed by Jacques Villeret. He already fell in love with cabbage soup, which was prepared by the hero of Louis de Funes, as well as the effect it had on the inhabitants of the Earth.
Airplane! (1980)
One of those comedies that were not recommended for people with a weak bladder to watch - after all, during the first screenings of the film by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker, the audience had real tantrums. Yes, people literally couldn't stop laughing. Of course, today the story of a former military pilot who was forced to save an airliner after the failure of his entire crew has somewhat gone into circulation - you can find borrowings from it in a huge number of paintings. However, its influence on the genre is undeniable, and a number of moments - in particular, the scene with autopilot - can be reviewed countless times.
La cage aux falles (1978)
Directed by Édouard Molinaro, a not-so-ordinary love comedy, popular travesty show star Albert (played by Michel Cerro) lives with his longtime partner and producer (Hugo Tognazzi). And in the midst of a midlife crisis that struck a couple, the son of a producer, whom he managed to give birth to during a period of promiscuous heterosexual youth, suddenly decides to marry. And not just on anyone, but on the daughter of an ultra-conservative politician! Business - tobacco ... We have to play in front of future relatives of an ideal married couple, consisting of a wife and husband.
Love Actually (2003)
This collection of multiple storylines intertwined at the end has become one of the UK's favorite Christmas movies. However, above all, this is a great comedy that brought together a whole constellation of British actors - Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Emma Thompson, Martin Freeman, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and many others. And since the script was written by Richard Curtis, then at the end of the film all the lines will intertwine and get their happy ending.
