ADVANCE MOVIE REVIEW: Bridesmaids

The new comedy Bridesmaids lets the girls get a shot at debauchery and toilet humor.  The results are hilarious, with a surprising touch of heart in a lot of places.  Every lady in America who has ever been a bride, a bridesmaid, or a maid of honor should see this movie.  You will either laugh at the moments that remind you of your own wedding party or laugh thankfully that none of these characters were anyone of you or someone your know.

MOVIE REVIEW: Thor

The popular trend lately (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) has been to create comic book movies that tone down the superpowers and focus on the realistic qualities and plausibility of human heroes capable of existing in our real world. Thor, unapologetically, does the absolute opposite.  It's a grand, epic, and galaxy-bending display of gods among men.  Never before has a superhero movie been so, well, super in its scope and size, yet still leaving room for a little dose of humanity.

MOVIE REVIEW: Fast Five

By that rational of welcome sensory overload, Fast Five more than delivers its trademark cars, muscles, and babes.  Just as aforementioned, the theme here is over-the-top.  The "WOW" moments are plentiful and paced with a ethnic rap-infused soundtrack.  The action, car chases, and stunt work are unique, breathlessly shot in the Brazilian sun, and top everything from its predecessors.  If you like the series, you will love the latest and gleefully wonder where they will go next.

MOVIE REVIEW: Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch is a loud, muddled mess of those cool action dream sequences, played one after another.  If those descriptions sound cool, then you like Zack Snyder's films and will enjoy this show.  If all of that sounded confusing, then two things are going on.  One, you are one of those aforementioned that doesn't get his creativity or, two, you've witnessed why Zach Snyder's movies never become revered ground-breaking classics: the stories can never live up to the visuals.

If it was easy it would just be 'the way.'" Limitless is about the challenges of the ultimate shortcut.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Adjustment Bureau

Speaking of that theology and deeper tones, the religious symbolism and non-specific labels that are created to define guardians, angels, deities, fate, and chance will no doubt strike internal thought and external discussion and debate about what you think happens in real life with The Adjustment Bureau's themes.  Because of that, it's a fascinating movie that, much like Matt Damon's last movie Hereafter and it musings and symbolism of the afterlife from Clint Eastwood, won't completely move you to pieces, but stick in your head enough to really make you think afterwards.  Those are fun movie experiences.

MOVIE REVIEW: Rango

From the John Wayne-level vistas and cinematography, the High Noon showdowns and action, to the Sergio Leone theatrics, music style, and villains, film fans with like what they see.  So, from a cinematic standpoint Rango really and unexpectedly works.  It's edgy, unique, and a great western.  However, parents expecting cute and cuddly will not.  The movie is too slow and quirky for most kids, and even some adults.
