PODCAST: Episode 60 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

For their 60th episode, two calmly-pulsed film critics, non-absentee dads, and astronomical school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan welcomed back previous guest Aaron White, one of the hosts of the successful Feelin' Film Podcast. Like last time with Passengers, we stay in space, but in a solar system far closer to home and with way, way, way less pissing and moaning across the three opinions. It's the recent and ruminative Brad Pitt vehicle Ad Astra that calms our combined civility to talk about quieter science fiction and father-son dynamics.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the Kicking the Seat's YouTube "Wednesday Knight Live" roundtable for "Moon Knight" Episode 4

If last week’s “Wednesday Knight Live” hosted by Ian Simmons on his Kicking the Seat YouTube Channel was any indication, the Moon Knight show and all of us at “Earth’s Mightiest Critics” are off the rails. Twist be damned in the fourth episode, most of us are checked out and the comedy that ensues because of that and the listener comments really made the show very entertaining this week, gutter humor and all! Enjoy myself, Ian, “King of Geeks” personality Elliott Serrano, Mark Krawczyk of Special Mark Productions, and Annie Banks of Chuck Load of Comics for all the laughs!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on "Brevity Box" Podcast Episode #47 on the Ruminations Radio Network

In being part of the Ruminations Radio Network with my Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, I’ve been able to meet and digitally commiserate with fellow creative people. As a newbie to the podcast medium, all of them have impressed me with their work ethic in putting spoken words to their passions. Recently, I was invited to be episode guest on the Brevity Box podcast hosted by, as I know them, “Brando” and “CCC.” They had me on to tell my journey as a film critic and what makes me tick as a man juggling all the work that makes me a critic, teacher, husband, and father.

PODCAST: Episode 59 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

For their 59th episode, two manipulative film critics, hose-wielding dads, and ax-sharpening dads brought their oxygen and gasoline to the firefighter hero worship action-drama. HBO Max had Ron Howard's Backdraft available for Will Johnson while Don Shanahan hit the national big screen with a Fathom Event celebrating its 30th anniversary. As the Chicagoan, Don gets all the big brother feels from it and cites it as a beloved personal favorite. Will, on the the other hand, thinks Ron Howard, as well as the movie, blows. Folks, this is a good tiff! Give it a listen!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the Kicking the Seat's YouTube "Wednesday Knight Live" roundtable for "Moon Knight" Episode 3

After two weeks of conflicts, I was finally able to join Ian Simmons’ “Wednesday Knight Live” roundtable of “Earth’s Mightiest Critics” for the new Disney+ Marvel series Moon Knight. I was lucky enough to see the first four episodes in advance for press, but it was finally time to join the chat on Ian’s Kicking the Seat YouTube Channel. As always, it was a blast to join Ian, Mark Krawczyk of Special Mark Productions, and Annie Banks of Chuck Load of Comics for a conversation that goes right off the rails beyond the TV show. Enjoy the hearty laughs!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on "Invasion of the Pody Snatchers" for "The Last Man on Earth"

Recently, I was welcomed back to Vinnie Green’s MDK Productions, this time as a guest on his Invasion of the Pody Snatchers podcast channel. That arm of MDK specializes in horror films and the theme was zombie movies. Vinnie and co-host Noel John Tuohy took my request of going very old school with 1964’s The Last Man on Earth, pre-dating George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead by four years. We un-swaddle this cradle movie for zombies for a fun show! Enjoy the episode! Follow Vinnie and Noel on Twitter and Facebook!

PODCAST: Episode 58 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

For their 58th episode, pudgy film critics, pandemic dads, and formerly-quarantined teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan welcome back Chicago-based film critic Annie Banks of Chuck Load of Comics for a second episode. They dive into the headspace and isolation of Bo Burnham's recent Grammy-award winning comedy special Inside. The debate is on whether this was a movie or just a very well-produced comedy special among other triggers and peccadillos that come with the manic personality of Bo Burnham.

PODCAST: Episode 57 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

For their 57th episode, fanboy film critics, drained dads, and Oscar-challenged teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan follow the Oscar season with a late appointment on the newest film of Paul Thomas Anderson, namely Licorice Pizza. With PTA involved, that welcomes back guest Barbara VanDenburgh of USA Today to the three-way bruhaha. The trio also unwind for an extended rant about the state of the Oscars that presents some of the best debate CHF has ever had! It's more golden than the Oscars themselves.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Cinematic Underdogs" podcast talking "American Underdog"

This past month, I was invited back as a guest to the Cinematic Underdogs podcast hosted by Paul Keelan and Jordan Puga. This was my third spin on their show which specializes in covering sports movies. I previously dug in with them last year to talk about Slap Shot and Moneyball. We’ve been enjoying each others’ company on social media and through connected fellow creators ever since. This time, we have a movie very fitting of the podcast’s name. The three of us discussed American Underdog, the under-seen and under-loved Kurt Warner biopic from this past Christmas.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on "Manly Movies" Podcast talking "Field of Dreams"

Surfing among the fans and fellow creators of the Feelin’ Film podcast Facebook group, I’ve come to virtually know and break internet bread with a gentleman by the names of J.B. Huffman. He’s a voracious movie fan who has a temperament for examining and celebrating all forms of masculinity. As a fellow father, those stories and archetypes grab him the most to the point where he decided to make a podcast series dedicated to the movies that hit us dads. Welcome to Manly Movies! Like all good men, he doesn’t do anything half-ass. I was honored to participate as J.B.’s first official guest to talk about Field in Dreams.

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Interview for MDK Presents "Talking Points" segment on Darkseid of the Moon podcast

I was recently welcomed back to Vinnie Greene’s Darkseid of the Moon podcast from his MDK Productions for a “Talking Points” segment. Vinnie and his co-host Noel John Tuohy wanted to interview me and talk about my path to where I’m at as a press-credentialed film critic. Casually so, I kind of spell out my story from country kid movie fan to school teacher to amateur blogger to Rotten Tomatoes approval. I greatly appreciate that chance to chat and share. Stay close to MDK for an upcoming zombie-themed episode on The Last Man on Earth. Follow Vinnie and Noel on Twitter and Facebook!

PODCAST: Episode 56 of "The Cinephile Hissy Fit" Podcast

For the now one-year-old Cinephile Hissy Fit Podcast on their 56th episode, the Oscars feel like a bit of a birthday for the show. Shiny film critics, golden trophy dads, and envelope-opening school teachers Will Johnson and Don Shanahan composed their second annual Oscar discussion. This time, they are joined by returning guest Lauren Knight and a new guest, Chicago-based film critic Cati Glidewell of The Blonde in Front. They share their picks, wishes, and snubs on spirited and extended episode
