A new study shows the most followed celebrities on Twitch:
The study conducted by online gaming platform Solitaired analysed Twitch data to find out how many followers each celebrity account has and how many views and game streams, excluding reruns, they have gained.
Coming in at number one for the most followed celebrity is former Manchester City and Barcelona striker Sergio Agüero, with a total of 4.66 million followers. Sergio announced his retirement, at age 33, from football last year due to a heart condition, but remains active on his Twitch account. Under the username 'SLAKUN10', he has accumulated 17.5 million views on Twitch across 23 game streams and regularly plays a mix of games from FIFA to VALROANT and Grand Theft Auto.
Ranking in at second spot is another footballer, Neymar Jr. The Paris Saint-German forward has 2.13 million followers on Twitch and 3.7 million views across his nine game streams. Between playing for PSG and the Brazil national team, Neymar's favourite game to stream the most is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Formula 1 McLaren driver Lando Norris ranks third with 1.36 million followers. Lando has gained more viewers than the top two combined and claims in his bio that he is a 'TEMPORARAYAYRLY FULL TIME STREAMER, drives in Formula 1 every now and then too...'. He has attracted over 21.9 million views with 51 game streams and has also founded Quadrant, his own eSports and content creator team.
In fourth place is American politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known by her Twitch name 'AOC', with one million followers. Ocasio-Cortez has served as U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district since 2019 and began her Twitch account in March 2020. Her most streamed game is Among Us, and at the start of her very first stream, she directed her viewers to 'I Will Vote', a website that aims to help people establish a voting plan.
The Hip Hop singer T-Pain comes in at the fifth spot with 898,536 followers and has gained 5.84 million views across 111 game streams. T-Pain is the CEO of Nappy Boy Gaming and has played various games ranging from Call of Duty: Warzone to Forza Horizon 5.
Ranking sixth place is 'Circles' singer Post Malone with 825,241 followers, and he has attracted 1.3 million views across his streams. His favourite game to play is Apex Legends. Following behind in seventh place is Andy Milonakis, best known for the sketch comedy show 'The Andy Milonakis Show' that aired on MTV, who has 649,324 Twitch followers and is the second most viewed celebrity on the platform, with 25 million views across his streams.
Another Formula 1 star who makes it into the list in eighth spot is Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, with 606,887 million followers. The Monégasque racing driver's most played game is F1 2019, followed by Call of Duty: Warzone. Coming in at number nine is Logic, the first musician to sign a deal with Twitch in 2023; the seven-figure deal is to stream exclusively to the site. He has gained 551,976 followers and 5.4 million views.
Finally, in tenth spot is EDM artist Deadmau5 with 525,355 followers and 14.7 million views and whose favourite game to play is PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. The Canadian music producer created his account in 2014, and his gaming interest also expands to appearances in videogames such as DJ Hero 2 and Goat Simulator.
A spokesperson for Solitaired commented on the findings: "Twitch is a unique platform as it is solely dedicated to live-streaming and offers a real-time interactive chat experience. This level of interaction through each live stream is how popular Twitch streamers have managed to build up highly engaged audiences, so it's great to see such a wide range of celebrities from different backgrounds creating accounts to engage with their fans. It's interesting to note the range of celebrities, even just in the top ten most followed, from footballers, musicians to politicians; it's amazing to see how welcoming the Twitch community is to a diverse range of streamers."
There are several accounts worth noting that haven't been included in the list. An account dedicated to Bob Ross, who died in 1995, streams old episodes from the ‘Joy of Painting’ and has 2.1 million followers – enough to put it third on the list – was not included due to being created by Twitch. Music artists Soulja Boy, who had 831,818 followers, and Snoop Dog who had 822,828 followers are not included due to their Twitch accounts being no longer available.
