5 Classic Movies to Enjoy With Your Pets
by Kathy D
The best family time is spent when you and your loved ones do something for you both, and nothing speaks the quality family time like watching a great movie together. Who doesn't love movies?
Pets are also part of the family—sometimes even insured—and a movie will do them some good once in a while. Getting snuggly on the couch with your pet, especially on a chilly evening with a great movie title, is among the few precious moments in life that must be cherished.
What A Movie with My Dog, How?
Watching a movie with your pet sounds a bit absurd, but they may enjoy it. Your dog is more intelligent than you think.
The title "man's best friend" should not be taken lightly. Dogs somehow have the power to alter moods and leave you feeling happier than before.
Apart from letting them play with their newborn dog toys, you can decide to spend a slow afternoon watching a movie they can relate to. So get your popcorn and pet treats ready for the time of your life with these five classic motion pictures below.
Beethoven
Dogs are mischievous animals. The closest pet to their level of mischievousness is the cat. Your furry find can stir up some trouble, and no movie portrays it more clearly than Beethoven. In the movie Beethoven, the dog's name portrays the main character as both rambunctious and caring. The movie shows how the Newton family's life has transitioned because of the addition of the dog.
It's a great movie as it shows the role of pets in our lives and it's also family-friendly. It's a relatable comical movie that represents how many real-life families are.
The patriarch of the household, George Newton, was slow to adapt to the new changes. Still, eventually, he took up the critical role of saving the dog from the evil grip of a veterinarian. This movie is filled with equal parts of mishaps and cuteness and will not disappoint.
101 Dalmatians
This flick is truly a classic. Based on the novel of the same name—The Hundred and One Dalmatians, this Disney classic is an animated tale of how good always triumphs over evil. The premise is an evil fashion designer tries to "dognap" Dalmatian puppies for her selfish fashion quests.
This cartoon will be enjoyable for both your pets and kids, and you'll relive your childhood days watching Rodger, and Anita the owners, and the Dalmatian parents Pongo and Perdita.
The story follows Pongo and Perdita, who begin to live on the same roof after the wedding of their owners and give birth to a litter of pups. Anita's evil friend Cruella De Vil wanted to purchase all the dogs for their fur, but Rodger declined the offer, and she began scheming on how to get them.
Lassie Comes Home
Lassie tells the story between a man and his dog and the unbreakable bond they have. This old-but-gold classic shows how much dogs can be devoted to their owner and why they're the most loyal pets. During the Great Depression, a family in a small Yorkshire Village sold the beloved dog of a small boy on trying and offsetting the financial pressures.
They sell the dog to the Duke of Rudling, and after the Duke takes Lassie away to his Scottish Estate, the dog begins to miss her original owner.
The grandmother to the Duke takes note and allows the dog to escape, and on her journey, although she faces great dangers, it is also characterized by some acts of kindness that will warm your heart. Lassie overcomes all the obstacles to reach her original owner ultimately.
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey tells a fantastic story of a cat and two dogs who embark on the joinery to find their way back home.
These three animals were "deserted" on a ranch when their owner went on holiday, and unaware that it's a temporary stay, they begin the journey of a lifetime across the California wilderness to locate their owners who seem to have "left" them.
Many dangers and threats face the adorable trio, but the determination to reunite with their "parents" allows them to take anything on. This is a thrilling but comical story that will have you and your pet fixated on your screen until the end.
Lady and the Tramp
In 1955, Lady and the Tramp had one of the most memorable date scenes in Hollywood history. However, the movie is fully animated. It revolutionized storytelling. Picture Romeo and Juliet and their forbidden love, but now with dogs.
This story between a well-bred and beautiful cocker spaniel and her street dog boyfriend will leave your eyes teary. Even though it's a couple of decades old, it's still very entertaining to watch.
The once-pampered Cocker Spaniel, a Lady, is captured by the local animal pound, and Tramp, her rough-around-the-edges, street-smart mutt, Tramp rescues her. They return home, and too much of her surprise, her human family welcomes her new friend with open arms.
