5 Cars That Were in Major Action Films
by Lewis Robinson
Action is one of the most popular film genres, and it shows more and more every year. One of the things that is seen most often in a good action film is a slew of gorgeous cars, most of them classics in one way or another. Some cars tend to appear in more action films than others, and viewers tend to take notice of that fact. Consider the following five cars that were in major action films.
Aston Martin
No matter which James Bond is a viewer's favorite, one thing is always certain, and that is that Bond will be driving an Aston Martin. While the models have varied from one Bond to the next, the Aston Martin has always been a beautiful, classy car that has consistently had enough bells, whistles and speed to make it the perfect car for 007 to drive. If someone wants to own one of these gorgeous getaway cars, they will need to pay out the nose, as the most expensive models tend to run over a hundred thousand dollars. However, if someone just wants to own a car with the name, they might be able to negotiate a loan through a car buying service.
1971 Plymouth Cuda
Another popular choice for a car in an action movie is a Plymouth Cuda, specifically the 1971 model. It has been featured in “Gone in 60 Seconds” as well as made an appearance in the acclaimed “John Wick” franchise alongside a ton of other epic muscle cars. The 1971 Plymouth Cuda is a beast of a car. Not only did it get changes made to it to make it more eco-friendly, but it also has a ton of horsepower while maintaining the classic design that is frequently associated with muscle cars. In fact, if someone is just learning to draw muscle cars and needs a dependable silhouette, the Cuda is one of the best choices.
Dodge Charger
While it is an obvious choice, the Dodge Charger, especially the 1969 and 1970 models, has been the quintessential classic car that should be on any action movie's roster. One of the most popular franchises that the Dodge charger is featured in is the “Fast and the Furious” franchise. A Charger is driven by one of the main characters, Dominic Toretto, throughout several of the films in the franchise, naturally making it a focal point and something to watch for to make sure the films are being consistent.
Ford Crown Victoria
Though this might be an unusual choice, the Ford Crown Victoria has been in more action movies than people might think. In fact, they were the car of choice for the police cars that were in the movie “Face/Off.” This movie has quite the reputation, and it makes sense to have a classy, dependable car play a significant part as the car of choice for the local law enforcement. More action movies that have included the Crown Victoria include “Transformers,” “Deadpool” and “Spider-Man.”
Audi A3
One of the cars featured in the movie “Taken,” the Audi A3 is a sedan that is surprisingly one of the brand's more affordable options. Though it is unlikely that Liam Neeson's character was able to customize his own A3, the average consumer is able to customize the car to fit their needs. For a luxury car, it is the perfect choice for someone who wants to have the best on a budget. After all, if it is good enough to help a man find his kidnapped daughter, it is perfect for helping someone run errands and practice defensive driving.
It might seem unlikely to some, but the cars that are featured in an action movie can make or break the film. The cars have to be able to do the job they are assigned, and the unique features can make for an even more entertaining chase or drag race. There is a reason that certain cars are almost always featured, and others are not even taken into consideration.
