3 Superhero Movies With Legendary Action Scenes
by Lewis Robinson
Superhero movies are all the rage nowadays. While this popularity can be partially attributed to excellent stories and characters, the action scenes must be given credit. Superhero flicks have some of the best action sequences ever made. So, if you're a lover of onscreen battles, here are three superhero movies with legendary action scenes.
1. Spider-Man 3
Sure, the third Spider-Man movie doesn't hold up amazingly well. In fact, it's widely perceived as a joke. However, it can't be denied that some of the action scenes are spectacular, especially for how new CGI was at the time. One scene that's particularly memorable involves a crane and Gwen Stacy. While Gwen is doing a photoshoot, a construction worker loses control of his crane. The heavy pole it's carrying ends up crashing into Gwen's building, causing her to nearly fall to her death. Luckily, Spider-Man is there to save the day.
The whole scene looks and feels like a disaster movie. There's a slow build to the impact, the building falls apart and hordes of people are screaming. Not to mention that Gwen's dad is watching from the ground. When Spider-Man comes in, the scene gets even more impressive. Spidey swings through a sea of flying debris, nearly getting crushed several times. Gwen, of course, ends up falling from the crane, only getting saved at the last moment. While the scene is exciting and impressive, it'll definitely make you want more competent crane service Los Angeles.
2. Avengers: Endgame
No list of superhero action scenes is complete without Avengers: Endgame. Say what you will, but the culmination of over twenty movies was a sight to behold. Of course, the best action scene has to be the final fight. It begins with Captain America, who is alone against an entire army. Then, out of nowhere, the audience hears Falcon come in. Suddenly, all of the formerly dead superheroes enter the fray. If you're a Marvel fan, this was a tearjerker, especially when fan favorites like Spider-Man arrived. All of this build-up crescendoed when Cap caught Mjolnir, straightened up and said the Avengers catchphrase.
If you saw this scene in theaters, you almost certainly heard cheers throughout the audience. Then, the fighting began. Sure, you could argue that it was mostly just CGI action. However, each character involved had been fleshed out over several movies, making the scene that much more meaningful. Some highlights include Wanda torturing Thanos, Peter catching the gauntlet and the women coming together. Of course, this all culminated in Iron Man finally defeating Thanos, bringing an end to Marvel's main villain.
3. Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman, arguably, saved the DC movie universe. Before the film came out, DC had been mainly producing flops. Suicide Squad and Batman vs Superman were the most disappointing of these entries. Fortunately, Wonder Woman was well made, heartfelt and inspiring for women everywhere. After watching the film, most people came out discussing one scene in particular - No Man's Land. At one point in the film, Diana is brought to the trenches. She sees how hopeless the soldiers have become. It's also made clear that a city behind enemy lines is suffering. So, instead of continuing on her quest, she steps onto the field. Being Wonder Woman, Diana is able to deflect the bullets that come her way. She stands her ground against an onslaught of attacks by the enemy soldiers.
This show of bravery allows the other soldiers to fight with her, finally making headway in the war. Eventually, Diana is able to get past the soldiers and free the city. Sure, some may argue that this scene doesn't have a lot of action. However, the meaning behind Diana's journey into No Man's Land is heart wrenching, and it makes for an iconic battle scene.
