How so? Well, there is a list of the most anticipated films of this autumn that will bring you to various worlds, from simple and sweet romance to horrors, adventures, and even noir. So, buckle up, and let's go!
Blonde
The long-awaited biopic tells the story of Hollywood's most famous blonde, Marilyn Monroe. In his film, Andrew Dominik decided not only to reproduce the events of her life (difficult childhood, career path, unhappy marriages) but to present them through the prism of the heroine's inner world. As a result, Norma Jean (aka Marilyn Monroe), played by Ana de Armas, will appear before the viewer not as the frivolous and flirtatious blonde that everyone is used to seeing on the screen but as a strong woman with a tragic fate - who she was off the red carpet.
Don't Worry Darling
A young Chambers couple (Harry Styles and Florence Pugh) move into the experimental community of Victory. Here, along with their families, live men who work on a top-secret project. Modern houses, friendly neighbors, well-balanced infrastructure - everything in this city is too perfect to be true. When the heroine Florence Pugh begins to understand this and makes an attempt to get to the bottom of the truth, her life turns into a nightmare.
Bones and All
“Bones and All” is a romantic horror about cannibalism, which the main characters, Maren and Lee, suffer from. Maren's (Taylor Russell) main dream is to be loved and has devoted people around. But she spent most of her life alone, saving those she loves from herself. The girl's mother knows about her dark side and tries her best to save her: she hides her daughter's crimes and constantly moves with her from one state to another. Then, one day, her hands fall, and she leaves Maren to her fate. The girl searches for her father, whom she has never seen in her life, and meets Lee (Timothee Chalamet), a homeless guy who also turns out to be a cannibal. Luca Guadagnino, the creator of the Oscar-winning film “Call Me By Your Name,” took on the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis. The director himself describes the picture as follows: "This is a romantic story about the impossibility of love and, nevertheless, the need for it - even in extreme circumstances."
The Silent Twins
“The Silent Twins” drama tells the true story of two Gibbons sisters. Because of their skin color, they were ridiculed and bullied from childhood and finally refused to associate with anyone but each other. The sisters invented their own language, understandable only to them. As teenagers, they committed a number of offenses and, by court order, were placed in a psychiatric hospital for 12 years. The staff felt that the girls had a negative effect on each other and decided to separate them. And then June and Jennifer faced a choice: to disperse and survive or die together.
Triangle of Sadness
In his satire film, Swedish director Ruben Östlund denounces the vices of those accustomed to surrounding themselves with luxury. The action of the Triangle of Sadness takes place on a ship on which billionaires and their families set off on a journey. Here they talk to each other, have fun and allow themselves whatever they want - until the moment when the yacht goes underwater, leaving the survivors on a desert island.
The Fabelmans
Steven Spielberg took a long time to decide to make an autobiographical film. After the death of his parents, he nevertheless took up the creation of the tape: in it, the director talks about the difficulties growing up in post-war Arizona and the thorny path to the film industry. The film stars are Paul Dano and Michelle Williams (as Mr. and Mrs. Fableman), Seth Rogen (the director's uncle), Judd Hirsch, Jeannie Berlin, and David Lynch.
Amsterdam
David Russell has assembled a genuinely golden cast in this film:
Christian Bale;
Robert De Niro;
Margot Robbie;
Anya Taylor-Joy, and many other movie stars.
The director himself wrote the script for “Amsterdam.” The action takes place in the 30s of the last century. In front of the eyes of three friends, a murder occurs, and they become the main suspects. They decide to find out who really did it by all means and uncover one of the most high-profile conspiracies in America.
The Banshees of Inisherin
The plot is built around the relationship of two friends (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) who live on the remote island of Inisheer in Ireland. The hero of Brendan Gleeson abruptly breaks off a friendship that seemed to last a lifetime. But Padraic (Colin Farrell) does not give up: he tries to find the cause and resolve the conflict. Despite all his attempts, the situation is only getting worse: the dark sides of the characters' personalities, which they diligently concealed, come out. The movie not only received critical acclaim but was also warmly received by the audience: at the Venice Festival, the applause did not subside for 13 minutes.
Call Jane
The film raises an important social problem - the abortion ban. The main character, who lives in America in the 60s, does not want to have children. According to the law of the genre, she becomes pregnant but cannot have an abortion - they are illegal in the country. Joy (Elizabeth Banks) joins the feminist organization "Jane" and fights for women's rights in America with others.
Ticket to Paradise
George Clooney, Julia Roberts, tropical landscapes - do you really need more arguments to watch “Ticket to Paradise?” The star duo plays a divorced couple who travel to Bali to stop their daughter from making the mistake of marrying a guy she recently met. The creator is Ol Parker, the director to whom we owe “Mamma Mia!” In “Ticket to Paradise,” he tried to recreate the film's atmosphere, so fans of the cult musical will surely enjoy the new film.
Salem's Lot
The screen adaptation of the horror master Stephen King's novel “Salem's Lot.” The main character is the writer Ben Mears. Ben returns to the small town of Salem's Lot, where he was born and spent his childhood. The writer wants to find inspiration for his new book in his native place. However, something terrible and mystical is happening in the town; people are constantly disappearing here, both individually and with entire families. Who is behind these disappearances? It turns out that vampires live in the godforsaken land. The film will arouse interest not only among fans of Stephen King's work; the film adaptations of his works are always worthy of attention.
Fun Fact: Salem's Lot began filming in September 2021 in Boston. The cities of Worcester and Ipswich will also become locations. The book on which the film is based was written by King in 1975.
Halloween Ends
Everything, good or evil, must eventually come to an end. We waited for the story's finale about the ruthless and unkillable maniac from the Halloween franchise. The actors will try on the characters for the last time, and the assistant director will say for the last time: "Lights, camera, action." What is known about the plot is that it will finally loop the Myers and Laurie Strode storyline.
Fun fact: Two sequels to Halloween (2018) were announced back in 2019. Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends were scheduled to release in Fall 2020 and Fall 2021, respectively. However, the coronavirus pandemic has made adjustments to the schedule.

However, not everyone is happy about the appearance of a superhero. Villains and criminals, to whom he is like a bone in the throat, decide to get rid of him once and for all. The new hero is waiting for insidious setups and traps.
The Marvels
A superhero film about three popular comic book heroines - Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau. This tape is a sequel to the picture "Captain Marvel" (2019). In January 2020, the development of the picture began, and Megan McDonnell was invited to write the script. In December, the film was called Captain Marvel 2, but in May 2021, it changed to the Marvels.
Three Thousand Years of Longing
The film was directed and written by George Miller, the author of Mad Max: Fury Road. For the sake of this film, Miller digressed from Furiosa, a spin-off of the Max films. Starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton.
According to the story, the scientist Alithea Binnie, having gone to Istanbul, finds a vessel with a genie in an antique shop, who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom, but the scientist is in no hurry. She does not immediately believe that the genie is real and has long conversations with him, slowly making wishes, as she knows that this usually does not lead to anything good.
Those critics who managed to see the picture noted the excellent work of the duet and called the film smart, adult, non-standard, and sometimes provocative.
Pearl
Earlier this year, Ti West, the author of The Exorcist and Studio A24, gave us a rustic-themed "X" slasher. And now his prequel is coming out, dedicated to the youth of the main villain. Mia Goth again played the leading role in the film. The director and producing studio are also the same. Pearl is set in 1918. Events take place on the same farm as in "X". Before the events of the first movie, it was used as a boarding house during the war. The main character lives there and dreams of acting in films, but she is not allowed to leave the farm where she lives. To become a movie star, Pearl will stop at nothing.
