With the number of confirmed cases of COVID speaking in Canada, it’s probably best that you avoid being out in public as much as you can. That being said you’ll want to find entertainment and other things to keep you occupied while being stuck indoors. For our blunt lighters, this is the perfect time to watch some classic and newer movies that appreciate and celebrate the weed culture. Of course, before you sit back for the laughs you have to make a stop at your favourite weed dispensary. Dazed and Confused

This 1993 film has Matthew McConaughey playing a man in his twenties that has no issue with hanging out with high school students as he is pretty much one himself. It's a film that centers around the last night of high school and looking into the lives of various characters. While it’s not solely focused on weed there is the sense that it's something that they do for fun amidst all the other antics. Youthful days of cruising around, drinking beer, and smoking weed together. 

The Big Lebowski

You can’t go wrong with this classic movie. Basically, The Dude here is Jeff Bridges, who gets mistaken for a millionaire ie. The Big Lebowski. He ends up having to save the millionaire’s wife by delivering a ransom of course things don’t go quite to plan. The scenes get a bit wacky but it’s all in good fun and you’ll find yourself repeating some of the crazy lines for years to come.

Smokey (Chris Tucker) and Craig (Ice Cube) get themselves in a world of trouble when they stumble across a dealer’s weed stash. Now the two have until 10 p.m to find the money and pay it back that same night. Where are they going to get $200 in such a short time? The movie follows the pair trying to get the money together, Chris Tucker will have you in stitches. If you ever wonder where the phrase “Bye Felicia” came from you’ll soon find out.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

You probably don’t know that Sean Penn got his breakthrough in this 1982 high school comedy in his role as Jeff Spicoli. An interesting leap from his current roles in movies like Dead Man Walking. The two-time Oscar winner captured the role of surf-loving stoner dude perfectly. “Hey bud, let’s party” is a line you won’t forget after watching this movie. 

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

The munchies why high as a kite is a dangerous combination, you might find yourself setting off on an epic adventure to satisfy your hunger and tastebuds with the famous godlike burgers found only at White Castle. Well, this is true if you’re Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn). The duo sees a commercial for the fast-food joint and makes it their mission to get there going through some wakey adventures along the way. 

Inherent Vice

This movie might take you on a real trip. You might want to take it lightly before watching this. This is definitely a love-hate scenario on using drugs. It’s fascinating, violent, and extremely mind-altering. If you’re looking to ask questions all night then give this one a try. Adapted from author Thomas Pynchon’s novel Inherent Vice and features a star-studded cast including Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, and Owen Wilson. 

Pineapple Express

Dale (Seth Rogen) and Saul (James Franco) get entangled in a “wrong place-wrong time” situation. Dale witnesses a crooked cop murdering a man. Leaving the scene a roach ends up getting left behind with a strain of marijuana called Pineapple Express. They have dangerous drug lords on their tail and somewhere along the way their relationships change. It’s sort of all over the place but in a good way and Danny McBrides adds to the madness in the character “Red”. If you ever find a strain called “Pineapple Express” you know who to call. 

Smiley Face

Anna Faris blows this one out of the water and proves that weed movies don’t have to be sexist. When her character Jane accidentally eats her roommate’s weed cupcakes we’re taken along her journey and feel what is to be really freaking high. You should definitely give this one a watch.

Half-Baked

Prior to his peak of comedic genius, Chappelle co-wrote this particular movie and starred in it as Thurgood Jenkins who was the janitor at a research laboratory. Using his dealer alter-ego “Mr. Nice” Thurgood sold the stolen weed from the lab to helo make money to bail his friend out of jail. However, with his success came incurring the wrath of the local drug dealer. The famous line, "I never thought I'd say this to anybody, but you two smoke entirely too much reefer."

How High

Method Man and Redman along with a mixed-matched cast cross into this stoner movie about two friends that end up going to Harvard as they ace their entrance exams after which blazing the place up. You’ll hear the highest lines ever along with weed jokes, hot chicks, and overall. If you ever wonder whether being high while you study will make things easier this movie might give you the answer.
