MEDIA APPEARANCE: David Ehrlich's IndieWire Critics Survey on October 15, 2018

Notable and notorious IndieWire film critic David Ehrlich recently put out a social media call for film critic peers to join a weekly survey to discuss movie topics, answer questions, and highlight their work.  Representing Every Movie Has a Lesson, I, along with over 60 other emerging and established film critics including some of my fellow Chicago Independent Film Critics Circle members, accepted the invitation to participate.  I'm honored by the opportunity, and I hope my responses are chosen each week.

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: What is the greatest biopic of all-time?

Damien Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic First Man is the root for this week’s survey question. While I have many personal favorites, I had to put the critic hat on to name the best. For my money, that’s Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull. The film is a technical and artistic marvel that transcends the sports film genre as a true icon. Second and third place on my scorecard would be Schindler’s List and Scorsese’s other epic opus Goodfellas. Enjoy the article and the listed suggestions of my critic peers!
